Parul is an Urban Management and Development Consultant with 12 years of work experience in Management Consulting, Project & Programme Management while working on Urban Management projects across Accessibility, Universal Design, Environment, Urban Planning, Sanitation, Solid Waste Management and Urban Infrastructure sectors in various cities in India. Mr. Sharma is a Senior Accessibility Consultant for the flagship initiative ‘Accessible India Campaign’ of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. His responsibilities included overall programme management, Increasing Outreach to masses, formulating and implementing communication strategies, partnering, liasioning and coordinating with various State government officials and infrastructure service providers across the country to monitor the efficient fund utilization & timely completion of various targets of campaign. He is also the Indian representative for The Global Initiative for Inclusive Information and Communication Technologies and Smart City for All Campaign and GAATES programs.

He Has worked on Technical Co-operation, Development and Financial Assistance projects with ADB and various State Governments in India. He is a member of The Global Network on Disability Inclusive and Accessible Urban Development (DIAUD) which contributes to UN Habitat III on Disability related Issues. He was also a Consultant to the Investment and Development Authority of Nagaland State Government for coordination with various bilateral and multilateral financial institutions for investment in State of Nagaland to facilitate infrastructure Development in the state.

He has proven expertise in liasoning with various levels of Government officials, elected representatives and other relevant stakeholders while working as national and State Project coordinator for various Ministries and State Governments in India. Worked extensively in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Himachal Pradesh and Assam. He has executed State and National level urban planning and management projects for bringing together theoretical frameworks and practical city assessments for developing evidence and policy frameworks to build local capacity and embed resilience in the urban discourse.

He graduated from the Crawford School of Economics and Government with a Masters of Environmental Management and Development, Australian National University, Canberra and holds an MBA in Real Estate. Currently, a research scholar at the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, Mr. Sharma expertise encompasses a wide range, from housing, urban & regional planning to environmental management. He has worked on a diverse range of international and national environmental management, biodiversity conservation, climate change and redevelopment projects in busy urban areas. He has expertise in projects dealing with international aid and policy, programme management, public financial management, monitoring and evaluation.

During his studies in Australia, Mr. Sharma has worked with the Australian Capital Territory’s Department of Environment, Climate Change, Energy and Water as an Environmental Auditor. Parul is closely connected with various civil society organizations in India working in the Disability and Urban Management sector and is currently Secretary for the Association of Rehabilitation Parents and Professionals and Executive member for the Sai Ashish Society for Spastic Children. He is also a member of the editorial board of an Indian Media Web channel “Voice4Ability.com” dedicated for the Persons with Disabilities and managed by NGO named We the People India.
