Sophie Bachet Granados

International Director of Blue Flag

Sophie Bachet Granados is the International Director of the worldwide renowned Blue Flag eco-label (, run by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE). Being in charge of this iconic brand has enabled her to lead Blue Flag towards new challenges whilst ensuring excellency throughout the network of more than 4,500 beaches, marinas and boats, all in close relationship with the 50 FEE members worldwide.

In the past nine years, she has steered the programme towards better accessibility and information to the public, as well as enlarging Blue Flag’s impact as a tool for integrated coastal zone management, by launching the award for sustainable tourism operators and their boat-related activities.

Sophie obtained her Master of Environmental Sciences in Wageningen University, The Netherlands. She also holds an Engineer diploma from UniLaSalle engineer school, France.

One of her joys is to dive and reconnect with the marine world whenever she has the opportunity to do so, being in the warm Caribbean waters, or the colder Tasmanian ones.
